Uncle Sam is in trouble. A toxic-gas spill in India, followed by a rocket attack, bring charges of US involvement. As anti-American riots rock major cities, the President calls on Phoenix Force. This book did not do it for me. Phoenix Force seemed a little off in this one. I didn't like the way a couple of the supporting players were killed off. the best part of the book for me was when the force went in to Afganistan to chase down the bad guys. I also thought that the bad guys were not very interesting. the parts where the force take on the Hind helicopter and the 2 tanks was well written. All in all I give this a 6 star effort. Have to admit this title was doing very little for me until the Team enter Afganistan on the trail of the ringleaders of the plot where it cranks up nicely. Some good reading here especially the battle with the government forces involving helicopters and tanks and then the final section at the location of the Hekmatyar at Bahram's stronghold featuring some excellent writing here and a couple of surprises. Action scenes excellent as usual especially as mentioned above but also as happens too many times the plot and storyline are lacking or poor again. Fair read just.

The Force is sent to India to investigate an Islamic terrorist plan to get India and Pakistan to go to war on each other. The plan is to make it look like the U.S. is involved in the attacks. PF goes on a by the numbers assault on the various terrorist groups, getting information from survivors in order to find the next group of jihad fanatics to destroy. Many allies are involved to help out the Force, including one that had helped them before in Night Of The Thuggee. After battles in India, the next target is in Pakistan, and then on to the conclusion in Afganistan. Full of the usual action from cover to cover, the best fights were the assault with the leopard tank on the compound in Pakistan and the fight against the tanks in Afganistan. McCarter gets himself a girlfriend for a brief time in this book. I liked the scene when she embarrassed him in front of the others. Very action oriented novel, but I liked the other three super PF books better.

Another whopper of a novel that has it all. Great action scenes, and we even see McCarter have a crush. A must read also.
