Hit and Run

Having read some of the crap which is the last six to eight titles of this series I am hanging out for a good read and does this title deliver? NO. The start is actually quite good where Gadgets and Pol remember them they are actually part of the team are involved in a traffic accident with some bank robbers and the humour and what happens is some good reading. BUT. Does Lyons actually have anyone he knew previously still alive? Yes as a matter of fact his ex-wife. So we can write a title involving her and her husband being home invaded by four biker/ex con jerks and ripped off. Bugger me her husband is actually involved in a firm which is designing parts of the Star Wars shield of the good old US. Now put yourself in their shoes you have these documents/plans/blueprints whatever of course you know exactly what you are looking at as you are a super intelligent jerkoff. So not only do you contact the US authorities and negotiate a four million ransom for the said documents you also manage to contact the Russians and negotiate a further four million from them as of course they are rather keen to get hold of them as well. How? Never mind you set your place to do the deal and after the reader goes through many pages of descriptions of the russians and their leaders capabilities the final scenario is set. The helicopter transfering Able Team is about to land and the pilot is killed. The team evacuate and advance. Lyons is shot twice and blacks out. He wakes up in the epilogue and says to Brognola did we win are the rest of the team okay. Yep says Brognola the seven russians are all dead as are the four of the biker/outlaws. Don't know why I bothered to read this crap I should have just read the epilogue I wouldn't have missed anything :-(

Carl Lyons and some other guys battle Russians and “marauders” to get their hands on stolen SDI secrets. One of the “psychos” is fixated on a woman whose home he invaded, and one of many coincidences she is the ex-wife of Carl Lyons. I had fond memories of this book being a very good one. This lasted until I reread it again and found a few things that were not so good. First, the “Sex Police” sequence was a stupid joke, through and through, especially when it was tied into the main plot. Second, the three chapter phone conversation between Lyons and Brognola. Something that would and should never happen again. Third, the climatic action sequence at the end was practically first person perspective, with a huge memory gap of the entire battle. I like the writing prose of this author, and it did bring up long forgotten continuity. In the early days of the Executioner, Carl Lyons was a married cop with a kid. Now we discover what happened to them. His dialogue was lengthy, detailed and his characterizations solid. A well-described world with a lot of right-wing social commentary. This is the last of Able Team's unofficial Coincidence and Conflict trilogy, started with “Cajun Angel” and had continued through with “Miami Crush.” Basically the same plot of Carl Lyons randomly meeting the psychos he will kill in the singular, set-piece action sequence at the end. This is the best book of that trilogy by far. Skip the others, read this one.

Blechhh!!! More vile swill from Chuck Rogers. This book had some funny moments at the beginning, but after that it just got worse and worse. Able Team only killed one guy in the first 207 pages! and after that the action wasnt much.Still even then Carl Lyons manages to get shot.Not once. TWICE!!. good grief.A terrible ending to a lame book.Thank God this is'nt the same Chuck Rogers writing Bolan books these days. This Book inspires a poem. it goes like this: Old Chuck; you suck. Back to Phoenix Force I go.

This book had some good villains, but not much else. Oh, and the subplot with Lyons' ex-wife. Overall, just so-so
